Jeni. Wow. I didn’t expect to get choked up at the end there. I’m going through something similar with my Dad. He is my hero and I don’t know what i will do when i don’t have him anymore. Stay strong and hold him close. Susan Smith Kost. As someone who’s lost my dad from ALS two years ago, this story brought me to tears. Seeing the beautiful impact this dad had in his children’s life, just like mine had in my sister and I, just moved me immensely. Because in the end. I’m am so sorry that your Dad was diagnosed with ALS. My father also had ALS. Continue to show him love and make more memories, as I know you will. This just made me cry so hard. Your entire family is so beautiful. I pray for his health and protection. He has very good hearts taking care of him. I love this story so much, you are all Beautiful. They say we die twice in our lives. One is physical death and the other is when we are forgotten. Thank you for keeping both of them alive. So profound to think family. Blood family, can be SO abusive and then you meet someone in connection and they become family instead. This was my daddy’s uncle that we never got to meet. He went by “Junior”. Thank you for sharing this amazing story. I’m so glad that you had that bright shining person in your life.. I know this person. He’s incredibly kind, wonderful. A terrific boss and mentor. And an amazing father.. Although I love the beauty in this story, it also hurts my heart that so many people in this world have so little love in their childhood. I wish I could give my love and comfort to each and every one of them. I also had an amazing grandfather who was my grandmother’s second husband. Blood means nothing, he was your grandfather. Beautiful. I hope you’ve healed and are living your best life. I’m so sorry you didn’t have much love growing up but I’m glad you had James. And I bet he was definitely glad he had you. Sometimes all it takes it just one person to make all the difference in a person’s life. Obviously, your step grandfather was that man for you. May his memory be a blessing. Oh, you deserved so much more love and parenting, but your grandfather loved you, and showed you what it is to honor others and to step in for them. Thank you for sharing this, and please know that we all want the very best, loving things for you now. You are a remarkable and inspiring human being. I’m happy you found some kindness through your grandfather and wish you a sweet and happy life.. In studies it has shown that even when a child has been abused or neglected what will save that child is a connection to at least one safe, caring adult. It only takes one to make all the difference.
