I felt we were just starting to get to know each other, to be able to mend fences. It’s been 20+ years since he died and my heart is still empty. My condolences on the loss of your dad. So, very happy for you that you were able to build a relationship with him on more than intellect. Bonus dad you may not have given me poster. The mere fact that he was a genius and stayed sane is a miracle and the fact that he was able to teach himself another way of being which, many geniuses deny themselves and their families is awesome. It sounds like you got the best of both worlds and that is truly magnificent. Rest in peace to your father and a big virtual hug for you. So easy to live our lives under the umbrella of performance and accomplishments, (not that those are inherently bad things), but to miss out the emotions of the soul and spirit, and deep connection with ourselves and others.

So glad you were able to truly “see” your dad before his passing. What a gift. Condolences on the loss of your father. You are so articulate. It is difficult to grasp the essential nature of emotional connection. Maybe you were an Old Soul from the start. Bonus dad you may not have given me poster. I am so happy you had that beautiful, intimate time with your father. I’m so sorry for your loss. But I’m glad your dad was able to feel and recognize happiness while he was still alive and you both got to experience a closer, emotion-filled relationship.
