We took our daughter back to the orphanage she spent a year of her life in – we went with the three other girls that were adopted out of this orphanage at the same time as she was. Pot head that’s what I do I garden I drink and I know things poster. She fell in love with China, but loves her American family – so it was emotional. She wants to put her DNA out someday, but she says she isn’t ready yet – maybe after age 18 she thinks. We talk about her biological family – I tell her that she was lovingly placed in her finding spot (high traffic -safe place) so her Biological parents must have wanted the best life for her and it could have been due to the “one child” rule at the time or parents were too young and not equipped – someday she will try to find out and we will support her.

From the mother of another beautiful child adopted from China. Thank you for sharing your story. I agree that it is important to acknowledge our children’s birth families and to provide them with information about their culture. Pot head that’s what I do I garden I drink and I know things poster. It is sad that one Mother’s loss is another mother’s greatest gift. I pray that our children’s birth families know how much these adopted children are loved. Our extended family was blessed with a beautiful Chinese girl 21 years ago. Our family would have never been complete without my goddaughter. She just graduated from college and we could not be prouder of her and who she is.
