This is what true heroism looks like. You wake up every day and fight a battle for your kids. There isn’t any love more pure than that. Although dad’s been sober for about 35 years now, he didn’t begin his sobriety until long after I was grown and flown. I’m proud of him, but I’m also proud of you, that  You should be so proud of yourself! Achieving sobriety is probably one of the hardest things but look where you are now! And the memories you create for your beautiful kids. Your story touched me and I thank you for sharing it with us.

Beverly Mackey Grogan Everling You think you are in a room poster Great job dad! It seems like they will be around forever but in a blink of an eye they will be grown with families of their own. You will not regret this at all. Someday your daughter and son will tell their children what a great dad they had. Here’s hoping my brother who just got out of the hospital from drinking himself to literal death (5 mins of CPR and 3 other times during his 3 month stay there) will go to rehab. He’s currently refusing and is in real bad shape. There’s nothing more.

This HONY story has touched me more than any other. I heard somewhere “You can have alcohol, or you can have everything else. You can’t have both.” Seems like it would be so easy to choose everything else, but alcoholism doesn’t work that way. So You think you are in a room poster So awesome. Amazing what our kids can do for us, even when we haven’t been everything we needed to be to them. Never too late to be a great dad!
